Frosting Princess Birthday Cakes
Frosting looks great and let’s be honest kids love frosting but depending on your design it can get a little messy. Luckily with a princess cake design at least the one I’m going to show you, frosting works really well.
Wilton cake pans are great and they have a few cake pans that can be used for a princess party theme. Such as.....
As the pans are indented with the features of the item or character you can see where you need to decorate very clearly. So it’s just a matter of filling in the shapes with your frosting. A little like painting by numbers. Using a small piping head and bag is the easiest way to go, just make small frosting twirls and fill in each area with your choice of frosting colours.
To present your cake place it on a pretty plate or a cake disk which you can decorate further by adding simple flowers make out of fondant or frosting or maybe small cake decorations that you can buy.
Fondant Birthday Cakes
With sugar paste / fondant icing a really professional finish can be achieved but there is a definite knack to using it and can look a little difficult if you have not worked with fondant icing before.
There are here are some hints and tips available on how to work with fondant icing and what can really help is to watch someone else work with it.
As we don’t all have our own resident cake chef I’ve hunted around to find a film clip that will show you that it isn’t really that difficult. If you break the process down into steps then you’ll see that is not quite as difficult as you may have thought.
Personally I feel I can do something myself much more easily if I’ve been able to see picture or even better watched someone do it.
So...here are some comprehensive video clips breaking the process down, I hope it helps.
